Hello. Welcome to the ‘Bats And Transportation Infrastructure’ site; an online resource for transportation authorities, chiropterologists and environmental consultants.

Globally, bats benefit from transportation structures, which function as alternative roosts and stepping-stone refugia for migratory populations. Given the magnitude of existing threats and concomitant population declines, identifying alternative habitat and minimizing ancillary sources of mortality becomes vitally important. Responsible management, including stewardship and mitigation are paramount to protecting bats – mammals intrinsic to healthy ecosystems, community integrity and vital ecological processes.

BATI endeavors to enhance bat conservation and stewardship practices through education – by providing comprehensive information on evaluative surveys, appropriate time schedules, and mitigation measures; online courses; informative case studies; and interactive imagery.
